What do beer and local business have in common? Our November Monthly Meeting & Mixer!  The HHA Business Showcase 2018  will take place on Monday, November 12 starting at 6:30pm, and Saint Arnold Brewing Company will be on site so you can enjoy an exclusive tasting of some of their totally local, loving crafted libations. All current business members are invited to set up shop at the Fire Station for the evening to get the word out about the goods and services they offer, and all neighbors are invited to attend to score great deals and commit to shopping the Heights. You may even win a door prize, with drawings throughout the night. To participate in the showcase (included FREE with your current business membership), email business@houstonheights.org.

Dacapo's hangs up their Chef's Hats in Houston! The Biggerstaff Twins are headed home to Oklahoma to their Grandfather's original bakery and to be near family. I will miss the raspberry swirl cookies, Italian Chicken Noodle Soup, Coffee, camaraderie and friendship shared in this cozy cafรฉ in the historic Heights! Dacapo's and I were neighbors -- our original studio location of 18 years shared the same block  in the Norhill Historic District in the Houston Heights. Dacapo's was my go-to to for very special occasion cakes, boxes and boxes of cookies delivered as gifts, lunches with my team, and many, many visits there for a delicious bite with friends! As way of thanks for creating many sweet & savory moments  over the past 24 years -   I  created this illustrated guest book for Dacapo's -  for customers and friends to share their own special and delicious stories  with Lisa and Tresa! Thanks for the memories ...

Design Guidelines for Houston Heights East, West and South Historic Districts  passed unanimously by Houston City Council. To everyone in the neighborhood that volunteered to make it happen: Because of You Today, History Lives Tomorrow Honoring Houston Heights modern pioneer Bart Truxillo  and his original Heights home at 1800 Harvard. The Home was built form a Sears Kit Home in the original Houston Heights community in late 1800's and exquisitely restored starting in the 1970's by Bart. He welcomed everyone, and opened his doors to many Home Tours, and community gatherings. Bart's tireless efforts laid the groundwork for Historic Preservation in Houston. ........................................................................................... photo & campaign design graciously donated by Angela DeWree
